Matricaria recutita (Chamomile or camomile) is a daisy-like, annual plant of the Asteraceae family, also known as German chamomile, Hungarian chamomile, Wild chamomile, Blue chamomile and Scented mayweed. Chamomile is commonly used as a herbal infusion and traditional medicine, as well as in soaps and cosmetics. The sweet, daisy like flowers are used to support the nervous system and digestion, and have been shown to relieve the effects of anxiety and promote a restful night’s sleep.
